Do you require Physiotherapy Treatment? Our expert team are here to help.
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a modern, evidence-based healthcare profession dedicated to restoring movement, improving function, and reducing pain. Physiotherapists are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of conditions using the latest clinical research to guide every stage of care.
At Spinal & Sports Care, our physiotherapists deliver individualised treatment plans that address the root cause of your symptoms while promoting long-term health, recovery, and independence.
Conditions Treated by Physiotherapists
Physiotherapy provides proven benefits for many conditions affecting muscles, joints, bones, nerves, and the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Our clinicians manage:
- Back and neck pain
- Sports injuries such as sprains, strains, and overuse conditions
- Arthritis and degenerative joint conditions
- Occupational and ergonomic injuries
- Post-surgical rehabilitation, including orthopaedic recovery
- Chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia
Physiotherapy also plays an essential role in:
- Stroke rehabilitation: Improving balance, coordination, and functional independence after neurological events
- Brain injury recovery: Restoring mobility, strength, and movement patterns following trauma
- Amputee rehabilitation: Supporting gait training, prosthetic integration, and balance retraining
- Neurodegenerative conditions: Maintaining function and mobility in conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
- Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation: Assisting recovery after cardiac surgery, respiratory illness, or deconditioning
- Vestibular rehabilitation: Treating dizziness, vertigo, and balance disorders
- Women’s health physiotherapy: Managing postnatal recovery, pelvic floor dysfunction, and pain conditions
What Physiotherapy Treatments Do Physiotherapists Use?
Physiotherapists are trained to assess your condition, diagnose the problem, and develop a plan based on your lifestyle, activities, and health status.
Common treatment methods include:
- Exercise programs: Targeted strength, flexibility, and mobility training supported by strong research evidence
- Joint mobilisation and manipulation: Reducing stiffness and restoring movement
- Muscle re-education: Retraining coordination and functional movement patterns
- Soft tissue mobilisation (massage): Relieving muscle tension and improving circulation
- Hydrotherapy: Low-impact, water-based rehabilitation for mobility and early-stage recovery
- Airway clearance and breathing exercises: Especially for respiratory or post-surgical recovery
- Assistive devices and mobility aids: Guidance for safe and effective use of walking aids, splints, and wheelchairs
Our physiotherapists utilise evidence-based treatment pathways, combining techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes while adjusting programs as your recovery progresses.
Personalised Physiotherapy Plans
Every patient begins with a comprehensive assessment to identify the underlying cause of symptoms, contributing factors, and personal health goals.
We then create a tailored treatment plan designed to:
- Relieve pain and restore function
- Prevent recurrence or long-term disability
- Support surgical or injury recovery
- Promote strength, confidence, and independence
Our physiotherapists also coordinate care with GPs, specialists, and other allied health professionals to ensure seamless, multidisciplinary support for every patient.
Accessing Physiotherapy at Spinal & Sports Care
As first-contact practitioners, a doctor’s referral is not necessary to see a physiotherapist for private consultations. Patients can book directly with our clinic and begin treatment without delay.
However, physiotherapists, doctors, and other health professionals often work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan and manage treatment for specific conditions. When required, we will communicate closely with your GP or specialist to ensure continuity of care, particularly for complex or chronic cases.
